Privacy policy
This page explains, in plain language, what personal data we collect when you fill in the contact form on gadgerz-shoppy.com, why we use it, who we share it with and how long we keep it. It covers everything we sell: vacuum cleaners and robot vacuums, garden tools, small appliances and accessories for the kitchen and for cleaning the home.
This notice is provided under Articles 12 and 13 of the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. For customers in the European Union, the equivalent provisions of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (EU GDPR) apply as well.
Last updated: 26 September 2026
The short version: what you need to know in a minute
- We collect your name, email, optional telephone number, product of interest and message through the contact form or by email. The form also collects your enquiry checkbox choices and an optional order number. We collect your delivery address only when you confirm an order by email.
- We reply by email with the price, the delivery charge, the delivery time, the payment methods available for that order and when payment is due. An order is confirmed when you accept our confirmation email in writing.
- No payment is taken on the website. How to pay is agreed by email before the order is confirmed. Nothing is payable until you accept our written confirmation. We charge no fee for any payment method. Cash on delivery is available only where a specific product page says so. We never ask for your card details and we never receive them.
- We do not sell your data and we do not pass it to anyone else for their own marketing.
- You can ask us at any time to show you, correct or erase your data by writing to info@gadgerz-shoppy.com. We reply within 30 days.
- Analytics and advertising cookies are only switched on if you agree through the banner, and you can change your mind whenever you like using the Cookie preferences button at the bottom of every page.
Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is the company that decides why and how your data is used. For this website that is:
| Company | Scalefuel Ads Ltd, a private company limited by shares registered in England and Wales |
|---|---|
| Company number | 15697275 |
| Registered office | 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom |
| Email for privacy requests | info@gadgerz-shoppy.com |
We have not appointed a Data Protection Officer (DPO), because our activities do not fall within the cases listed in Article 37 of the UK GDPR. For anything to do with personal data, the email address above is the right contact point.
What we collect from the contact form and during email correspondence
1. Information you type into the contact form
The contact form on this site is built with the Formidable plugin and what you enter is saved in the website database. We ask for:
- your name and email, so we can identify your enquiry and reply;
- “Which product is your question about?”, the product of interest preselected from the product page;
- “What would you like to know?”, your checkbox choices about the enquiry;
- your telephone number (optional);
- your order number (optional), if the enquiry concerns an existing order;
- your message.
The form does not ask for a delivery address. We collect it only when you confirm an order by email.
2. Information recorded automatically when you submit the form
- the date and time of the submission;
- the IP address the submission came from, and technical details about your browser;
- the page of the site you filled the form in on.
This technical information does two very practical jobs: it blocks automated spam submissions, and it lets us work out what happened if an enquiry turns out to be duplicated, incomplete or disputed.
3. Information collected during email correspondence
Once you have sent an enquiry through the contact form, where the product can be preselected, or by email, we reply to your email address. During that correspondence we handle:
- your name, email, optional telephone number, product of interest and message, including any corrections;
- the order details, including quantity and payment terms, and whether the order is confirmed, amended, postponed or cancelled;
- your delivery address, collected only when you confirm an order by email, and any delivery preferences you provide then;
- the date and time of the contact, and whether we received your written acceptance.
We record the order details from our email correspondence. If you do not accept our confirmation email in writing, the order is not dispatched.
Any support calls are not recorded. We keep any notes needed to handle your support request.
4. What you send us after you have bought
If you contact us with a question, a return or a refund request, we keep the content of your message, the email address or number you wrote from, and any attachments you send us, such as a photo of a damaged item.
What we will never ask you for
- Card numbers, CVV codes or banking credentials. No payment is taken on the website.
- National insurance or tax numbers, identity documents, health data, political or religious views.
- Passwords for other services. No one from our team will ever ask you for one, by phone or by email.
Why we use your data, and our lawful basis for doing so
The law requires us to state a “lawful basis” for each separate purpose: the reason that allows us to use your data at all.
| Purpose | Data used | Lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Answering your enquiry | Name, email, optional telephone number, product of interest, enquiry checkbox choices, optional order number and message | Steps taken at your request before entering a contract, and performance of that contract, Article 6(1)(b) UK GDPR |
| Emailing you to confirm the order and the address | Name, email, optional telephone number and order details, including the delivery address only when you confirm an order by email | Steps taken at your request before entering a contract, and performance of that contract, Article 6(1)(b) UK GDPR |
| Delivering the parcel | Name, delivery address and telephone number if provided | Performance of the contract, Article 6(1)(b) UK GDPR |
| Handling customer service, returns, replacements and refunds | Order details, your messages, refund details | Performance of the contract, Article 6(1)(b) UK GDPR |
| Keeping the accounting and tax records for the sale | Order and payment details | Legal obligation, Article 6(1)(c) UK GDPR |
| Defending ourselves if an order is disputed, a parcel is challenged or someone places a false order in your name | Order details, technical logs, IP address | Our legitimate interests in protecting our rights and preventing abuse, Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR |
| Understanding how the site is used, through aggregated visit statistics (Google Analytics 4) | Cookie identifiers, pages viewed, time spent | Your consent, Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR, which you can withdraw at any time |
| Measuring how many orders come from our adverts and showing you remarketing adverts (Google Ads) | Cookie identifiers, browsing events | Your consent, Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR, which you can withdraw at any time |
Do you have to give us this information?
No. Nothing here is required by law. But without your name and email address we cannot answer your enquiry; your telephone number and order number are optional. We collect your delivery address only when you confirm an order by email, because it is needed to arrange delivery. Advertising cookies are a different matter: they are entirely optional, and if you refuse them the site works exactly as before and you can order with no restrictions at all.
Who we share your data with
We do not sell your data and we do not hand it to anyone for their own marketing. We share it only with the people we need in order to get the parcel to you and keep the site running. Anyone working on our behalf acts as a data processor, under a contract that stops them using the data for their own purposes.
| Who receives the data | What they receive | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The courier handling delivery in your country (local carriers in each destination country; in Italy, DHL or BRT) | Name, delivery address and telephone number if provided; the amount to collect only where the product page allows cash on delivery and it is agreed in your confirmation email | To deliver the parcel and notify you about the delivery |
| Whoever handles order correspondence on our behalf (our own team) | Name, email, optional telephone number and order details, including the delivery address only when you confirm an order by email | To confirm the order, the address and the delivery timing with you |
| Hostinger, our website hosting provider | Everything the form saves, on the server that hosts the site | To keep the site online and store the enquiries we receive |
| Our email service provider | Email address, name, content of messages | To send you confirmations and answer your support requests |
| Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC | Cookie identifiers and browsing data, only with your consent | To produce visit statistics (Google Analytics 4), measure advert results and show you remarketing adverts (Google Ads) |
| Accountants, tax advisers and solicitors | Order details and accounting records | Mandatory filings and protection of our rights |
| Public authorities | Only the data requested | Where a law or a formal order requires it |
How long we keep your data
We do not keep data “for ever”. Each category has a set cut-off, after which the data is deleted or anonymised.
| Type of data | How long we keep it | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Enquiry never confirmed by written acceptance of our email, or cancelled before dispatch | 12 months from the date of the enquiry | To handle any follow-up correspondence and show how the request arose |
| Order delivered and paid for | 6 years from the end of the financial year it falls in | Accounting and tax obligations that apply to the company |
| Customer service messages, returns and refunds | 24 months from the date the case was closed | To reconstruct the case if the problem comes back |
| Website technical logs and IP addresses | 12 months at most | Site security and defence against abuse |
| Your cookie consent or refusal | 6 months, after which the banner asks you again | To show what you chose and to respect it |
| Data involved in an ongoing dispute | Until the dispute ends, plus any period for appeal | Protection of legal rights |
If you ask us to erase your data before these cut-offs, we do so for everything we are not legally required to keep. Where something has to stay, we tell you in writing what it is and why.
Transfers outside the UK and the EU, and the safeguards we apply
The company behind this site is based in the United Kingdom, so data about customers in the European Union leaves the EU. Some of our technology suppliers, Google in particular, may also process data in the United States.
When that happens we apply at least one of the following safeguards:
- an adequacy decision covering the destination country, made by the European Commission for transfers out of the EU or by the UK government for transfers out of the UK, where one is in force at the time of the transfer;
- the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission in Implementing Decision (EU) 2021/914, together with the UK International Data Transfer Addendum where the transfer is made from the UK, and a transfer risk assessment;
- for suppliers in the United States, certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension, where the supplier is listed as certified.
You can ask us for a copy of the safeguards we rely on by writing to info@gadgerz-shoppy.com. We send it free of charge.
How we protect your data
- The site uses an encrypted HTTPS connection, so what you type into the form travels protected.
- Access to orders is limited to the people who have to work on them, each with their own login.
- The site and the database are kept updated and backed up regularly.
- We pass suppliers only the data they need for their job, and nothing more.
No system is 100% secure. If there were ever a data breach that posed a high risk to you, we would tell you as required by Article 34 of the UK GDPR and report it to the supervisory authority within 72 hours.
Your rights and how to use them
You have the following rights over your personal data:
- Access (Article 15): to find out what data we hold about you and receive a copy. This is often called a subject access request.
- Rectification (Article 16): to have something wrong put right, such as a mistyped address.
- Erasure (Article 17): to have your data deleted, where we are not legally obliged to keep it.
- Restriction (Article 18): to freeze the use of your data while we look into something you have challenged.
- Data portability (Article 20): to receive the data you gave us in a readable file, or have it sent to another supplier.
- Objection (Article 21): to object to processing we carry out on the basis of our legitimate interests.
- Withdrawing consent (Article 7(3)): to take back consent you have already given, for example for advertising cookies. Withdrawal applies from that moment onwards.
What to do, step by step
- Write to info@gadgerz-shoppy.com with Privacy request in the subject line.
- Tell us which right you want to use and, if you remember it, your order number or order date. It helps us find you straight away.
- If we cannot work out who you are, we will ask for a little more information, so that we do not hand your data to someone else.
- We reply within 30 days. If the request is complex we can take up to two further months, telling you why within the first month (Article 12(3) UK GDPR).
Using your rights is free. A reasonable fee can only be charged for requests that are manifestly unfounded or excessive, as set out in Article 12(5) of the UK GDPR.
How to complain to a supervisory authority
If you think your data is not being handled properly, write to us first at info@gadgerz-shoppy.com. Most cases are sorted out within a few days.
You always have the right to complain to the supervisory authority of the country where you live or work, or where you believe the problem occurred (Article 77 of the UK GDPR, or of the EU GDPR if you are in the European Union). The authorities in our markets are:
| Country | Authority | Website |
|---|---|---|
| United Kingdom | Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) | ico.org.uk |
| Italy | Garante per la protezione dei dati personali | www.garanteprivacy.it |
| Spain | Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD) | www.aepd.es |
| Poland | Urząd Ochrony Danych Osobowych (UODO) | uodo.gov.pl |
You can also take the matter to court. For complaints about the shopping side of things, such as delays, returns or refunds, the route is our support email: the step-by-step process is on the Complaints page, with the detail in our Refund policy and Terms and conditions.
Cookies, advertising tags and Google remarketing: what we use and how to switch it off
Cookies are small files that a website saves on your device. Ours fall into two groups.
Necessary cookies, always on
- WordPress technical cookies, which keep the site’s features and the security of the contact form working.
- Consent banner cookies (CookieYes), which remember the choice you made. Without them the banner would reappear on every page.
These cookies are not used to profile you and do not need your consent, because the site would not work without them.
Analytics and advertising cookies, on only if you agree
- Google Analytics 4: counts visits and tells us which pages get read most, and from which countries. These are aggregated numbers and we do not use them to identify you.
- Google Ads tags and the measurement tools linked to them: these record that a visit arriving from an advert ended in an order. They tell us which adverts work.
- Remarketing: this lets Google and its partners show you adverts for products you looked at on our site, on other websites or on YouTube. Google and third-party vendors use cookies and identifiers to serve those adverts based on your past visits to our site.
These tools never receive your name, your phone number or your address. They work with technical identifiers tied to a browser or a device.
How to switch them off, in practice
- On our site: open the Cookie preferences button at the bottom of any page, withdraw consent for the analytics or advertising category and save. The change takes effect immediately.
- In your Google account: Google’s ad settings let you turn off advert personalisation across every site, not just ours.
- For analytics only: you can install Google’s browser add-on, which switches Google Analytics off on every site you visit.
- In your browser: the settings in Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge let you block or delete third-party cookies. Bear in mind that clearing cookies also clears the record of your choice, so the banner will come back.
- Through industry tools: youronlinechoices.com/uk lists the advertising companies involved and their individual opt-out controls.
The full, up-to-date list of individual cookies, with their duration and purpose, is in our Cookie policy.
No automated decision-making: what that means for you
We do not use automated systems that make decisions about you on their own. In practice:
- no algorithm decides whether to accept or refuse your order: a person handles your enquiry by email, and the order is confirmed when you accept our confirmation email in writing;
- we do not give you a reliability score and we do not carry out profiling that produces legal effects for you, within the meaning of Article 22 of the UK GDPR;
- the prices shown on the site are the same for every visitor in the same country. They do not change based on your browsing or the device you use.
Remarketing adverts, if you have consented to them, show products in line with the pages you visited. That is advertising, not a decision about you, and it does not limit your rights.
Children’s data
This site sells products for the home and garden and is aimed at adults. We do not knowingly collect data about children under 16. If you notice that a child has sent us their details, write to us at info@gadgerz-shoppy.com and we will erase it.
Changes to this notice
If we change the way we handle data, for example when we switch card payments on, we update this page and change the last-updated date at the top. Earlier versions stay available on request: just write to info@gadgerz-shoppy.com.
